Why the vetting goes both ways
Under DSCSA, a wholesaler may only sell to authorized trading partners — which means verifying your pharmacy is as mandatory for them as verifying their license is for you. A distributor that opens accounts with no questions asked is the one to worry about.
What gets checked
The core review: your state pharmacy license (active, matching the ship-to address), DEA registration if you'll buy controls, business identity (legal name and EIN as registered), and often trade references or a credit application if you want net terms. None of it is exotic — the delays come from mismatches, not requirements.
Have these five things ready
Your state license number and expiration; DEA certificate if applicable; legal entity name exactly as licensed; EIN; and the name of the pharmacist-in-charge. With those in hand, a competent wholesaler can verify you against the state registry the same day.

A license listing the old owner after a purchase; a ship-to address that doesn't match the license; a dba that doesn't appear anywhere official; an expired document uploaded from an old folder.
